| abstract |
At least one consumable electrode contg. the base alloying elements and at least one other consumable electrode contg. the addition elements are remelted directly, simultaneously, continuously and regularly. The alloy thus obtained is cast continuously. The process may be carried out in a rectangular or cylindrical crucible, but a better yield is obtained if the process is carried out in a two part mould the top of which is wider than the bottom, thus enabling a larger electrode to be remelted than the ingot to be cast and enabling the process to be carried on for a longer time. |
