titleOfInvention | NUCLEAR REACTOR WITH COMBUSTIBLE FISHES TO IMPROVE THE POSSIBILITIES OF REGULATION IN NORMAL OPERATION |
abstract | In a nuclear reactor, partic. a pressurised water reactor, having a core formed from an array of elongated fuel elements replaced in groups after the combustion cycles, and from control rods for regulating the reactor power which can be introduced into the core, partic. from above, in the length direction of the fuel elements, which for levelling out the distribution of the power on the core are provided with fuel poisons, the latter are placed in fuel elements derived from a preceeding combustion cycle and are distributed over not >20% of the length of the fuel elements at the ends of these nearest the control rods. Overheating of the fuel elements is prevented even if the control rods are completely removed from the core. |
