Process for the manufacture of 3,5-dichloroaniline which comprises reacting 1-bromo-2,4-dichlorobenzene with a specific metal amide selected from the group consisting of lithium amide, sodium amide and amide potassium in liquid ammonia. b. This process is characterized in that the molar ratio of 1-bromo-2,4-dichlorobenzene / specific metal amide is 1/2 to 7. c. Usable for the manufacture of various agricultural chemicals, dyes and pharmaceuticals.
