abstract The method according to the invention comprises adjusting the pH of the solution to about 3 to 6 and then contacting the solution with an ion exchange resin having functional amino-carboxylic acid moieties to selectively fix the nickel on the resin to obtain a resin charged with nickel and a solution containing cobalt and spent nickel, the cobalt then being fixed on a new quantity of ion exchange resin, and the nickel and cobalt then being extracted from the resins corresponding charges.
