titleOfInvention PERFECTED PROCESS FOR ISOMERIZATION OF ALKYL-AROMATIC HYDROCARBONS IN C8
abstract The present invention relates to an improved process for the isomerization of C8 alkyl aromatic hydrocarbons. This process comprises the steps according to which: 1 degrees the starting charge is brought into contact with a composite isomerization catalyst in the presence of hydrogen under isomerization conditions so as to isomerize at least a portion of the alkyl-aromatic hydrocarbons in C8 and to produce an effluent; 2 degrees the effluent is separated so as to form a gaseous fraction rich in hydrogen, a first fraction rich in hydrocarbons containing toluene and having an average molecular mass lower than that of C8 alkyl-aromatic hydrocarbons and a second fraction enriched in hydrocarbons C8 alkyl-aromatics relative to the effluent; with the proviso that at least a portion of the first fraction rich in hydrocarbons must be subjected to the contacting of step 1; and 3 degrees collecting at least one C-alkyl-aromatic product from the second fraction. The process provides improved yields of particular desired isomers of Cs hydrocarbons and more efficient and complete isomerization of Cs alkyl aromatic hydrocarbons.
