The high pressure gas discharge lamp comprises an ovodal discharge vessel 20 provided with bar-shaped electrodes 25 which are arranged opposite each other and which have a winding leaving the tops exposed. 26. The ratio of the electrode spacing d to the largest diameter of the discharge vessel D is between 0.75 and 1.25. The lamp has a fairly high power of 1600 to 2000 W and a defined Br / I ratio of 1.5 to 4. In an apparatus comprising a revolving symmetry concave reflector 30 and a screen 34, a lamp arranged transversely 20 provides a suitably delimited light beam suitable for lighting sports fields. |
