abstract The invention relates to a composition for the preparation of an iodophore comprising, in addition to a support, a source of iodide, an oxidant and a source of acid, characterized in that at least one of the sources of Iodide, oxidant or acid source is only available for reaction with the other components when it is dissolved in an aqueous medium at the place of use. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of an iodophore from the composition defined above and the use of said iodophore as a disinfectant.
