A process for the isomerization of linear hydrocarbons containing more than six carbon atoms using molybdenum oxycarbide catalysts. |
abstract |
The invention consists of a process for the isomerization of linear aliphatic hydrocarbons having a number of carbon atoms greater than 6 in order to make branched hydrocarbons thereby having a better octane number. The process consists in passing the hydrocarbon diluted in hydrogen over a catalyst based on molybdenum oxycarbide which is obtained either from molybdenum carbide which is subjected to controlled oxidation, or from oxide. of molybdenum MoO3 which is reduced with a hydrocarbon. The advantage of the invention over the catalysts of the prior art is that it makes it possible to achieve a high selectivity for branched isomers regardless of the conversion rate, which enhances the n-heptane and n-octane petroleum fractions. . |
