abstract Disclosed is a polyester preparation device capable of efficiently preparing highly polymerized polymers of simpler construction. A polycondensation reactor (2) where the dicarboxylic acid and the diol are polycondensed under normal pressure by adding a catalyst having a hydrophobic property, where a separator device (10), which separates the organic solvent and the water distilled from the reactor and flowing the organic solvent, is attached to the reactor. The water generated during the polycondensation is then captured in the organic solvent without approaching again the polyester generated by the reaction in the active center of the catalyst; it is therefore possible to suppress the hydrolytic reaction of the polyester generated. Polycondensation can then progress further even under normal pressure. Thus, the simpler construction comprising the polycondensation reactor under normal pressure, and a separator such as a decanter, allows the preparation of a polymer with a higher degree of polymerization.
