Process for the treatment of a gas containing hydrogen sulphide (H2S) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) in which: - the gas is contacted at a suitable temperature with an organic solvent containing at least one catalytic system soluble compound, comprising at least one compound comprising at least one functional group A consisting of a carboxylic acid functional group and at least one functional group B comprising at least one nitrogen atom and capable of carrying out an acid-base reaction with at least one functional group A under the conditions for carrying out said process); on the one hand, a gaseous effluent that is substantially depleted of hydrogen sulphide and of sulfur dioxide is recovered, and on the other hand, liquid sulfur separated from the solvent. by a liquid-liquid settling, said catalytic system used to slow the formation of by-products. |
