abstract |
The subject of the invention is a method for determining the viability of pathogenic bacteria in a medium to be analyzed, after lethal treatment of these bacteria, characterized by: the amplification by PCR of at least 2 target RNAs, namely at least a persistent target RNA and at least one labile target RNA, - the evaluation of the level change of these RNAs relative to the level of the corresponding living bacteria constituting the positive controls, - the use of the ratio between the levels of RNA disappearance persistent target and labile target RNA, as an indicator of viability.Application in determining the viability of bacteria in an environmental medium such as air or water, in a biological product or food. |
