The present invention relates to polymeric particles in the form of filaments consisting of block copolymers, as well as their use as rheology modifiers of aqueous or organic solutions. The subject of the invention is, according to a first aspect, filamentary polymeric particles, said particles being constituted of block copolymers synthesized by controlled radical polymerization in emulsion carried out from at least one hydrophobic monomer in the presence of a water soluble macro-initiator. Typically, said filamentous particles are obtained in an aqueous synthesis medium of said block copolymers carried out by heating the reaction medium to a temperature of 60 to 120 ° C, with a percentage of the molar mass of the water-soluble macroinitiator in the block copolymer final concentration of between 10 and 50%, the degree of conversion of the hydrophobic monomer being at least 50%. According to a second aspect, the invention relates to a method for modifying the rheology of an aqueous or organic solution by means of said filamentous polymeric particles. |
