abstract | A process for producing polyurethane foam materials comprises reacting a polyether or polyester, polyisocyanates and water and/or other blowing agents in the presence of stabilizers which are reaction products of polyalkylene glycol ethers, polyisocyanates and polysiloxanes containing -OH or -SH groups linked by way or organic radicals to a silicon atom. Twenty-three different stabilizers are listed and examples are given of their use in a reaction mixture of a branched polypropylene glycol and an 80 : 20 mixture of toluene 2,4-and 2,6-diisocyanates, in a reaction mixture of a polyester derived from adipic acid, diethylene glycol and trimethylolpropene and a 65 : 35 mixture of toluene 2,4- and 2,6-diisocyanates and in a reaction mixture of a polyester derived from adipic acid, dipropylene glycol and trimethylolpropane and 65 : 35 mixture of toluene 2,4- and 2,6-diisocyanates. Water is used as the blowing agent and endoethylene piperazine or N-methyl-N1-dimethylaminoethylpiperazine in admixture with stannous octoate as accelerators.
