titleOfInvention | Radioactive residue incineration plant |
abstract | 1,037,587. Processing radioactive waste. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. June 1, 1965 [June 5, 1964], No. 23304/65. Heading G6R. An incineration plant for radioactive waste comprises airlock means for introducing the waste, an incinerator comprising a combustion chamber and at least two post-combustion chambers, a heat exchanger for cooling the combustion fumes, dust extraction means, a fume neutralization system, and discharge means for the clinker and ash. The plant is described with reference to a diagrammatic drawing (not shown). In the first post-combustion chamber entrained particles are burnt, and the second chamber acts as a settler. The heat exchanger comprises a high temperature exchanger, a compressed-air distributer, and a low temperature exchanger. For removing dust, a cyclone separator is used, followed by a pre-filter and a final filter. The fumes are then cooled and neutralized by contact with caustic soda solution and discharged to the atmosphere through a filter. The soot, dust, ash, and clinker obtained in the various stages are passed to a sludge tank together with caustic soda solution. |
