abstract | The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:1044343/C2/1> wherein the dotted line indicates that the 10,11-position is singly or double bonded, each of X and X1 is a hydrogen or halogen atom or a C1- 5 alkyl, C1- 5 alkoxy, C2- 5 alkenyl, C1- 5 haloalkyl, phenyl, substituted phenyl, C1- 4 acyl, C1- 4 haloacyl, amino, C1- 5 alkylamino, di-(C1- 5 alkyl)amino, C1- 4 acylamino, C1- 4 haloacylamino, C1- 5 alkylsulphonylamino, hydroxy, C1- 5 haloalkoxy, cyano, carboxy, carbamoyl, C1- 5 alkyl-carbamoyl, di-(C1- 5 alkyl) carbamoyl, C1- 5 alkylmercapto, mercapto, C1- 5 haloalkylmercapto, C1- 5 alkylsulphonyl, C1- 5 haloalkylsulphonyl, sulphamoyl, C1- 5 alkylsulphamoyl di-(C1- 5 alkyl) sulphamoyl, group and wherein more than one substituent may be on each benzenoid ring and Y is a hydrogen or a halogen atom; and a process for their preparation comprising reacting a compound of the formula <FORM:1044343/C2/2> with an allyl magnesium halide, and hydrolysing the resulting Grignard adduct. |
