1,060,567. Helmets. BAXTER WOODHOUSE & TAYLOR Ltd. May 27, 1965 [May 27, 1964], No. 21968/64. Heading A3V. A helmet particularly for airmen comprises a skull cap 1 of substantially rigid reinforced plastics or resin impregnated glass fibre material slit at 2 and adjustable to fit different head sizes by a band 4 secured at its ends to friction buckles 7 connected by a strip 6 incorporating quick release means 8. The pin 13 of the means 8 can be removed by pulling on a cord 14 which may also release the wearer from a head restraining strap 26. An extensible and adjustable padded chin strap 15 is secured to the band 4. A rigid frame 21 integral with or bolted at 23 to the skull cap has mountings 22 for a pivotable vizor (not shown). An inner cap may carry pipes supplying cooling air to the skull. The skull cap includes an integral rear neck extension 28. A leather neck piece 27 depends from the frame 21 and the extension 28. |
