An inductively heated roller consists of a drum 20 and end disc 22 secured to a drive shaft 10, the other end of the drum being closed by a second disc .23, a stationary axial laminated silicon steel core 28 on a support tube 24 carrying a coil 30 connected to supply leads 32, 34. The drum and discs are made of cast iron with their inner surfaces coated with electrically conductive layers 42, 44, e.g. by metallizing with copper.
