A low centre of gravity, promoting stability, is provided in a mine air cooling unit by arranging heavy components such as a motor and a compressor and condenser near the base of the unit. The unit comprises an air passage 33, an evaporator coil 38 provided with curved metal fins (39, Figs. 2, 4 and 5, not shown) which serve to filter the air supplied to a high speed fan driven by a motor 28. The cooling system comprises a reciprocating compressor 29, cylindrical condenser 49 and dryer 55. The entire apparatus is transportable by wheels 18 and standard truck. Water for cooling the condenser and for cleaning the said fins is supplied by means of hose 24. The outlet may include a disc 76 having an aperture 77, different apertures being used to provide constant output independent of the length of conduit 14. |
