titleOfInvention Separation Device.
abstract 1,175,318. Magnetic separators. BRITISH TITAN PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. 16 July, 1969 [31 Aug., 1968], No. 41720/68. Heading B2J. A magnetic separation device comprises two sloping channel members 2 of non-magnetic material, a magnet 23 mounted under each channel and arranged to be moved away from the channel by an air cylinder 28. A cover 3 for the channels is provided with an arcuate opening 7 over which is mounted an inlet pipe 30. The channels discharge through outlets 5 into a dish 1H which is divided into two compartments and which is rotatably mounted about a shaft 18. Each channel is provided with a manifold 9 having a number of jets 10 through which a wash liquid is fed to the channel. The inlet pipe 30 and dish 14 are coupled by linkage so that the compartments in the dish are moved under the outlets as the pipe 30 is moved from one channel to the other. The arrangement is such that material containing iron is fed into a trough and is deposited in one of the compartments of the dish, the iron being retained in the channel by the magnet. The pipe 30 is moved to the other channel at the same time rotating the dish so that the material is fed to the same compartment. The compartment with the iron is then subjected to a wash liquid which deposits the iron in the other compartment of the dish.
