titleOfInvention Ion Exchange Apparatus.
abstract 1,177,615. Ion-exchange. KURITA WATER INDUSTRIES Ltd. 10 Jan., 1967 [10 Jan.. 1966; 14 Jan., 1966], No. 1372/67. Heading B1J. An ion exchange treatment takes place in column 1 with regeneration of the displaced exchanger in column 2. Regenerated exchange fills column 1 with liquid for treatment fed to column by valve 25 and leaving by valve 26. For regeneration of spent resin valve 8 and 27 are opened and resin below strainer 3' falls into measuring tank 6 being replaced by treatment liquid. Valves 25 and 26 are closed and 7 is opened. This causes a piston-like movement of resin downward from hopper 5 controlled by plate 4. Valves 7, 8 and 27 are closed and treatment is resumed. Valve 35 is kept open and resin is transferred by water under pressure in line 24 to the regenerator hopper 11. The mechanics of the process are now repeated in the regenerator 2 with the addition of a concurrent washing step through pipes 22 and 33. The amounts of resin transferred are determined by the size of the measurement tanks and the predetermined numbers of transfers.
