titleOfInvention | Improvements in or relating to fluid control valves |
abstract | 1,182,037. Valves. HONEYWELL G.m.b.H. 1 Aug., 1968 [18 Aug., 1967], No. 36682/68. Heading F2V. A valve comprises inlet ports 11 and 21, e.g. for hot and cold water, and outlet ports 12, 22, a load supply port 31 and a load return port 32, and is arranged so that a load may be supplied with either fluid whilst the other merely circulates, the ports 11, 21 and 31 being spaced apart around a housing 1 and axially spaced from the ports 12, 22, 32 which are also spaced around the housing, a plunger 2 axially movable in the housing, and having surface channels arranged so that (a) in an intermediate position, Fig. 4, a longitudinal channel 41 connects the inlet 11 to the outlet 12, and a longitudinal channel 51 connects the inlet 21 to the outlet 22, while at least one of the load ports 31, 32 is closed by the outer surface of the plunger, (b) in one extreme axial position, Fig. 3, a transverse channel 42, communicating with the channel 41, is in connection with the load supply port 31. which is connected to the inlet port 11, and a transverse channel 43 connects the load return port 32 with the outlet 12, while the longitudinal channel 51 connects the inlet port 21 with the outlet port 22, and (c) in an opposite extreme axial position, Fig. 5, a transverse channel 52 communicating with the channel 51 connects the port 31 with the inlet 21, and a transverse channel 53 connects the return port 32 to the outlet 22, while the longitudinal channel 41 connects the inlet 11 with the outlet 12. The channel 51 is open at both ends 55, 56 of the plunger, to equalize pressures acting on the plunger, and has a mid-portion which can be formed as a bore in the plunger. The plunger can also be moved to allow partial flow through the ports 11, 12 and 21, 22. |
