abstract 1,185,317. Soap-detergent tablets. UNILEVER Ltd. 14 Nov., 1968 [16 Nov., 1967], No. 52254/67. Heading C5D. A toilet tablet comprises a soap and an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal sulphate of a primary alcohol 10-75% of the molecules of said alcohol being branched and having the formula wherein n is an integer from 7-14, R is an aliphatic radical of 1-4 carbon atoms, and the number of carbon atoms totals 11-18, and in which the soap content is 90-40% by weight of the combined contents of the soap and the sulphate. The metal may be sodium, potassium, calcium or magnesium, sodium being preferred. The soap may be prepared from fatty acids derived from tallow, bone grease, Chinese vegetable tallow, cottonseed oil, partially hydrogenated ground nut oil, lard, palm oil or whale oil, or blends of tallow with a nut oil e.g. coconut oil. The soap may be superfatted by means of a free fatty acid which may be formed in situ by the addition of phosphoric or lactic acid. Conventional colours, perfumes, germicides, bacteriostats and the like may be present.
