titleOfInvention | Washing Machine with Timer |
abstract | 1,186,707. Washing machines. DANFOSS A/S. 6 Dec., 1967 [17 Dec., 1966], No. 55322/ 67. Heading D1A. In a washing machine, a drum revolution counter serves as timing means to control timed functions of the machine. The drum 2 is driven by electric motor 4 through belt 3 when a command is transmitted from control unit 5 over line 6 and every time that a magnetic element 13 on the drum passes pick up 13' on the housing, i.e. once a revolution during washing, it generates a pulse which is fed to the counter 11. Other command lines 7 lead from unit 5 to electromagnets for the water supply, the washing agent supply, evacuating pump, heater and the like and information is fed to unit 5 by leads 8 from thermostats, level gauges and the like and by leads 9, 10 from timer/counter unit 11. The programme is selected by a plate 1-2 inserted in unit 5. Counter 11 comprises eight binary stages 14 and a first output 15 which transmits a signal when 75 is reached and a second output 16 which transmits a signal when 255 is reached, the latter passing through lead 9 to unit 5 to cause a change-over to the next section of the programme. In another arrangement the counter 18 is incorporated in, unit 5 and comprises twelve binary stages 19 and a decadic coder 20 with several outputs E at which a voltage appears in succession when a pulse is fed to the input. The washing machine comprises seven operating circuits A1-A7, five control circuits S1-S5 and one timer circuit 21 corresponding to the normal operations and controls, run-dry and overflow circuits being included if required. On sensing the completion of a programme section, each control circuit transmits a pulse to input 21. An interchangeable key plate and a fixed switch box 24 are provided between outputs E of counter 18 and the inputs of circuits A, S and Z. The spin drying may be similarly controlled even if it takes place in a separate drum. |
