titleOfInvention Process of and Composition for Deodorizing Fats and Soap Made Therefrom
abstract 1,190,095. Starch compositions. COLGATEPALMOLIVE CO. 19 July, 1967 [20 July, 1966], No. 33142/67. Heading C3U. [Also in Division C5] A deodorizing composition for fats comprises a fat-soluble strong acid, an acidic clay and a carbohydrate selected from sugar, starch, etherified starch, esterified starch and mixtures thereof. The fat-soluble strong acid may be α-sulphopalmitic, α-sulphostearic, mucochloric, acetylene dicarboxylic or maleic acid, or an alkyl dihydrogen phosphate or a mixture thereof. The acidic clay may be bentonite, montmorillonite or kaolin. Preferably the composition comprises by wt. 2-10% acid, 75-95% clay and 3-15% carbohydrate. A sequestering agent e.g. alkali metal salts of EDTA, sodium α-glucoheptonate or trisodium hydroxyethyl EDTA may be included in the composition.
