abstract | 1,204,861. Cascade development. FUJI SHASHIN FILM K.K. Nov. 29, 1967 [Nov.29, 1966], No.54419/67. Heading G2H. Latent electrostatic images are developed by feeding a toner and its carrier, and a material having a smaller apparent density than and at least the same size as said carrier and having an electrically conductive surface, to form a mixture on the surface bearing the electrostatic image, and effecting vertical or horizontal movement of said surface to produce a conductive layer over a toner-carrier layer in contact with said surface. The conductive material may be (i) foamed polystyrene or glass beads coated with silver or aluminium (ii) hollow glass or plastic ball made of polystyrene or polyethylene coated with silver or copper (iii) foamed silver paste (iv) small lengths of aluminium tube (v) two hemispherical shells of aluminium welded to form a sphere see Fig. 4c (vi) phenoxy resin polystyrene, polyethylene, PVC, a polyamide or polymethyl methacrylate pellets coated with silver (vii) plastic tubes coated with copper or (viii) a pellet as in Fig.4d. The carrier may be glass, lead or copper coated with nitrocellulose and the toner powdered carbon and polystyrene. The image may be transferred. |
