Heading B1D [Also in Division F4] In a compression-condensation refrigeration system (see Division F4) an oil separator is located between the condenser and expansion device. The separator may Operate by gravity and be of the form shown in Fig. 2. Liquid refrigerant and oil from the condenser enter the separator through a pipe 16 whose lower end is perforated. Refrigerant collects as a body 1 and the lighter oil as a body 2. Oil passes to the compressor through a pipe 23 and refrigerant passes to the expansion device through a pipe 19. The refrigerant is monochlorofluoro-ethane and the oil is a highly refined paraffin-based machine oil. |
