abstract | 1,212,393. Friction false twisting. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 23 Jan., 1969 [30 Jan., 1968], No. 4777/68. Headings DID, D1F and D1W. In a process for friction false twisting a twist barrier comprising a stationary pin 13 is so positioned with respect to the outlet end of a friction false twist tube 5 and with respect to guide means 17 around or through which the yarn is withdrawn from the twist tube that the yarn may be partially wrapped around the pin 13 with an arc of contact between 45‹ and 180‹, contact with the pin 13 being made immediately after the yarn has left contact with the outlet end of the twist tube 5. The pin 13 may have a bright or matt chrome surface or a ceramic surface. In a preferred embodiment the pin 13 has a diameter of 1/16 inch and is at a distance 1/8 inch from the peripery of the outlet end of the twist tube. The arc of contact between the yarn and the pin is prefemaibly between 60‹ and 100‹. The yarn produced has virtually no residual twist left after a de-twisting step and therefore fabric produced from the yarn has no undesirable 'flashes'. |
