A junction piece 10, comprising a valve 15, &c. to connect a gas cylinder 11 to an external pipe, &c. (not shown), has an internally threaded outlet port 18 into which is screwed a nipple 19 having a non-circular, e.g. hexagonal, central portion 20 over which the rim 21 of the outlet port is deformed, to prevent rotation and removal of the nipple. The rim 21 may be deformed by swaging. The body 12 of the junction piece may be made of aluminium or aluminium alloy, and the nipple 19 of stainless, carbon or alloy steel. The closure disc 15 of the valve is controlled by rotation of a spindle 16.
