abstract | 1,249,075. Slip casting. AMERICAN STANDARD Inc. 12 Jan., 1970 [30 July, 1969], No. 1337/70. Heading B5A. [Also in Division C1] A method of making simulated marble vitreous ceramic wall in which the surfaces normally viewed by the user are derived from a combination of slips of different colour, not allowed to mix homogeneously, to resemble a natural stone surface comprises pouring slips of different colours into a funnel 38 which enters the cavity 24 between the two halves 10, 12 of a water absorbing, e.g. plaster of Paris mould through orifice 26. An air escape hole 22 and an excess slip drain plug 15 are provided. No mould may be filled either in the upright or inverted position with respect to the normal orientation of the ceramic ware in use, through the orifice 26 which may be located in various positions on the mould to cause different flow patterns of the multicoloured slips. The green ware is subsequently fired on removal from the mould. |
