A generator 1 for igniting an explosive cartridge for operating a pivoted visor on an airman's helmet, has its armature shaft 2 connected through a uni-directional ratchet clutch to a shaft 9 coupled to a coiled spring 14, the shaft having lateral arms 21 engageable by a pin 22 to hold the spring in the stressed condition so that withdrawal of the pin allows the spring to drive the armature through the clutch, the latter permitting the armature to over-run when the spring is unwound. The shaft 9 has a slotted end 20 for insertion of a screw-driver by means of which the spring can be re-wound. The pin may be withdrawn by a cable 23 connected to the release handle of an aircraft ejector seat. |
