Multicolour effects and shadow dyeings are obtained on synthetic polyamide materials by printing the material with a paste of pH 2-9 containing a water-soluble non-dyeing, natural or synthetic tanning agent, which is a condensation product of an aromatic sulphonic acid or is of phenolic structure, followed by a heat fixation, e.g. steam, and then dyeing with a neutral to weakly acid aqueous bath containing an acid dye or any two or three component mixture of an acid dye, a basic dye and a disperse dye, preferably at 70 to 85‹C. at a high goods to liquor ratio. |
