titleOfInvention | Process for the production of porous polyvinyl acetals |
abstract | 1,272,928. Porous polyvinyl acetals. KANEGAFUCHI BOSEKI K.K. 4 June, 1970 [5 June, 1969], No. 27057/70. Headings C3C and C3P. A porous polyvinyl acetal is made by acetalizing an aq. solution of polyvinyl alcohol with an aldehyde and an acid catalyst, in the presence of 2-120% by wt. (based on the alcohol) of sodium iodide, phosphate, sulphate or chloride, ammonium sulphate or chloride, potassium sulphate or chloride, or aluminium or zinc sulphate ; washing the resultant product with water and drying it. The aldehyde may be formaldehyde. The alcohol may be a saponified polyvinyl acetate. The catalyst may be sulphuric, hydrochloric, phosphoric or hydrobromic acid. The acetalization may be carried out in the presence of a pore-forming agent, e.g. corn or potato starch, dextrin or a nonionic or anionic surfactant, e.g. a polyoxyethylene glycol ether of lauryl alcohol. |
