abstract 1301780 Dyeing polyacrylonitrile BAYER AG 10 Sept 1971 [11 Sept 1970] 42362/71 Heading D1B Polyacrylonitrile and acrylo-nitrile copolymers are dyed with cationic dyes in presence of a salt derived from a free ammonium base of formula I in which R is a C 6 -C 20 alkyl, C 6 -C 20 alkenyl or an optionally substituted aralkyl radical, R 1 and R 2 are each independantly C 1 -C 4 alkyl or C 1 -C 4 hydroxyalkyl radicals or form together with the nitrogen atom a heterocyclic ring, A is an optionally substituted naphthyl or tetrahydronaphthyl radical. Preferably 0.25 to 2.5% by weight of the compound on weight of the fabric is used, and may be applied in a pre-treatment bath. Examples of hetero cyclic rings formed by R 1 and R 2 are pyrrolidine, piperidine and morpholine.
