abstract | 1343709 Preparing pigments EASTMAN KODAK CO 22 July 1971 [24 July 1970] 34477/71 Heading C4P [Also in Division G2] Pigments are prepared by reacting in an aqueous medium a water-soluble acidic dyestuff or a salt thereof having an acidity such that a saturated aqueous solution thereof has a pH less than 5 at 20‹ C. with a water-soluble basic dyestuff or a salt thereof having a basicity such that a saturated aqueous solution thereof has a pH greater than 8 at 20‹ C. and then treating the precipitate formed with an acidic mordant, e.g. phospho-tungstic or phosphomolybdic acids or mixtures thereof. The acidic dyes which preferably contain at least two sulphonic or carboxylic acid groups per molecule and the basic dyes which preferably contain two amino groups per molecule may be of the nitro, azo, arylmethane, methine, acridine, thiazole, azine, anthraquinone, or phthalocyanine series. The pigments are used in electrophotographic developer compositions. |
