titleOfInvention | Process for the production of amylose films |
abstract | 1353659 Amylose film-forming compositions K HAYASHIBARA 27 July 1971 [28 July 1970] 35266/71 Heading C3U In the production of amylose films, in which a gelatinized solution of amylomaize starch or ordinary starch is hydrolysed using α-1,6-glucosidase, the reaction mixture is precipitated by cooling and the starch precipitate consisting of amylose recovered, there is added to the recovered precipitate a plasticizer chosen from (1) a hydrogenation product of oligosaccharides having a maltitol content of over 50% by weight and (2) a mixture of the hydrogenation product and another plasticizer, and amylose films are formed with the resulting mixture. There may be used the amylose which precipitates at 40- 50‹ C. from the hydrolysis of an ordinary starch, comprising over 50% by weight of long-chain amylose molecules with a polymerization degree of over 50. The additional plasticizer (where employed) may be glycerol, sorbitol, ethylene glycol, 1-,2- and 3-hexantriol, tetra-methyl and tetra-ethyl ammonium chloride, choline chloride or polyvinyl alcohol. The films are formed from a dispersion obtained by heating to 120-170‹ C. a 10-30% weight by volume aqueous solution of the amylose containing the plasticizer, by applying the dispersion to a surface as a film and drying the film with hot air at 70-90‹ C. |
