titleOfInvention | Manufacture of an electrode comprising an active iron mass |
abstract | 1363462 Iron electrodes VARTA AG 29 Oct 1971 [30 Oct 1970] 50400/71 Heading H1B The anode of an iron-air cell comprises microporous tubes 1 of a synthetic fabric closed at the ends by plastics stopper 2 and receiving an axial conductor 3 of copper or nickel, the conductors being connected together at one end. The spaces between the tubes 1 and conductor 3, are packed with particles of metallic iron and magnetite of diameter 5-15 Á. To improve the ampere hour capacity of the electrode the ferrous particles are chemically plated with a permeable coating of nickel by immersing the electrode in a plating bath, the coating having a thickness of 5-10 Á. |
