titleOfInvention Determining a parameter of a flow of electrically-conductive fluid
abstract 1367835 Determining parameters of a flow of electrically-conductive fluid INTERATOM INTERNATIONALE ATOMREAKTORBAU GmbH 24 April 1972 [27 April 1971] 18964/72 Heading G1N A parameter of a flow of electrically-conductive fluid is determined by positioning in the flow a coil assembly consisting of a primary coil 2 and two secondary coils 1, 3 mounted at axially opposite ends of and co-axially with the primary coil, with its axis in the flow direction, and energizing the primary coil with A. C. to induce respective alternating E. M. F. 's in the secondary coils. Temperature changes in the fluid are determined by summing the induced E. M. F. 's, the conductivity of the fluid being measured in the event of a temperature increase. Flow velocity is determined by measuring the difference between the induced E. M. F.'s, and correlating with the temperature of the fluid measured by a thermocouple 13. The bubble content of the fluid is determined by detecting the amplitude modulation of the induced E. M. F. 's with a pulse-height analyzer. As shown, the coils are wound on an iron core 4 provided with a longitudinally extending slot (5), Fig. 2 (not shown) and webs 6 between which the coils are wound. A protective tube 7 having end connectors 8, 9 is provided. The apparatus shown may be arranged at the end of a manipulating tube, Fig. 3 (not shown).
