titleOfInvention | Improved couplings for drain pipes of steam heated drying cylinders |
abstract | 138,551. Haddan, R., (Kuch, C. F.). July 17,1919. Ball-and-socket joints.- Relates to a dryer in which water of condensation is collected from the interior of a revolving cylinder and discharged axially. The in vention is described as ap. plied to the apparatus de scribed in Specifications 5181/11, [Class 34 (i), Drying gases &c.], and 12283/14. The iron pipes 3, 3<a>, revolve together, but are liable to be slightly displaced both laterally and angularly with regard to one another. To prevent any consequent strain, the pipe 3<a> carries a preferably screwed-on bronze or brass member 3n with spherical surfaces. This member is enclosed in a cast iron cap 7, 7d, on the end of the pipe 3. The interior surfaces of the cap are of slightly greater radius than the surfaces of the member 3n, and an opening 7f permits of small relative displacements of the pipes. |
