abstract | 1395597 Treating dross ISC ALLOYS Ltd 27 Nov 1972 54728/72 Addition to 1258755 Heading C7D Dross formed by the treatment of lead alloys, containing Sb, with Al is contacted with a fluid flux at least mainly composed of sodium aluminium chloride with optional additions of NaCl, to form a flux melt floating on a metallic melt, and introducing chlorine or a reactive chlorine-containing compound (e.g PbCl 2 ) to react with Al or Al alloy present, the flux phase containing sufficient alkali metal chloride to combine with the AlCl 3 so formed. The dross may have been dried (e.g. by the addition of sawdust) prior to treatment. |
