titleOfInvention | Particulate expandable styrene polymers |
abstract | 1396949 Coated expandable polymer particles BADISCHE ANILIN-& SODA-FABRIK AG 4 Aug 1972 [7 Aug 1971] 36498/72 Heading B2E [Also in Division C3] Coated particulate expandable styrene polymers are made by coating particles of the expandable polymer with 0.05-2% by wt. of the polymer, of a carboxamide or mixture thereof of m.p. 60-110‹C and of formula: RCONHR' where R is a C 7-21 alkyl or alkenyl group and R' is a C 8-22 alkyl or alkenyl group. In the examples beads or granulates of polystyrene containing pentane are coated with powdered stearic, behenic, myristic or oleic N- stearylamide, stearic N-oleylamide, stearic N-2- ethylhexylamide, or behenic or myristic N-laurylamide. The coated particles may be pre-expanded with steam, stored and then expanded in a mould with steam. |
