titleOfInvention Treating dyed fibres
abstract 1422847 Solvent recovery in a dyeing process TEIJIN Ltd 9 May 1973 [9 May 1972 10 May 1972] 22189/73 Heading D1B Fibres which have been dyed using a dye liquor containing a solution or dispersion of a non-ionic dye in a high boiling i.e. boiling at above 180‹C, water-miscible organic medium or a mixture of it with a low-boiling i.e. boiling at below 130‹C, medium followed by heating, are treated with a low-boiling organic solvent capable of dissolving the high boiling water-soluble organic medium, the unfixed dye being washed out with the high boiling organic solvent remaining on the fibres, the liquors obtained then being concentrated by evaporation of part or all of the low boiling organic solvent, the high boiling organic medium then being extracted from the concentrate using water. Aqueous solutions of the high-boiling organic medium may be decolourised e.g. with activated charcoal and the water then evaporated off. When all the low-boiling solvent is removed from the waste liquors the dye may be separated by filtration. The low-boiling solvent may be a chlorinated hydrocarbon e.g. chloroform, trichloroethylene, perchloroethylene or 1, 1, 1-trichloroethane, the highboiling water-miscible organic medium being e.g. polyethylene glycol.
