| abstract | 1423989 Chimney sections M J DENTON 12 April 1973 [8 April 1972] 16313/72 Heading F4J A flue pipe section comprises a rectangular casing member 10 with an oval section bore 12 formed with ledges 24 and 26 and a liner 28 with a flared socket 30 resting on the ledge 24, an asbestos or like gasket 34 being held against the socket 24 by the socket of the next liner. The latter is spaced as at 36 from the casing member and may have metal foil, e.g. tin or aluminium on its external surface. The casing 10 and liner 28 may be made of burnt clay or the former may also be made of concrete or asbestos cement. The liner may also be made of asbestos cement coated with an acid-resistant compound such as vinyl acetate polymer or a rubber derivative or it may be made of stainless steel. The side portion 14 of the casing which may be keyed into adjacent brickwork may be formed with vertical slots (18, Fig. 2) to save weight. In a modification, (Figs. 3 and 4) the liner may be cranked. |
