abstract 1424610 Disazo dyes HOECHST AG 19 Oct 1973 [21 Oct 1972] 48838/73 Heading C4P [Also in Division D1] Disazo dyes of formula in which A is a benzene radical which may be substituted by up to three substituents chosen from halogen atoms, nitro, cyano, trifluoromethyl, alkyl and alkoxy groups having 1 to 4 carbon atoms which may be substituted by C 1-4 alkoxy groups, B is a 1,4-phenylene radical which may be substituted by halogen atoms or alkyl or alkoxy groups of 1 to 4 carbon atoms which may be substituted by C 1-4 alkoxy groups or B is a 1,4-naphthylene radical, C is a 1,4-phenylene radical which may be substituted by halogen atoms or alkyl or alkoxy groups (C 1-4 ) which may be substituted by C 1-4 alkoxy groups, R 1 is a linear or branched alkylcarbonyl or arylcarbonyl group which may be substituted by halogen atoms or C 1-4 alkyl or alkoxy groups, R 1 containing 18 carbon atoms at most, are prepared by reacting A-N= N-B-N=N-C-OH A, B and C being as above with aliphatic or aromatic acid chlorides or anhydrides in a suitable medium e.g. chloroform, benzene, methyl - ethyl - ketone, dioxane, or nelprolan in presence of an acidbinding agent e.g. soda, pyridine or triethylamine.
