| abstract | 1443467 Games; quoits T A LAKEMAN 27 Sept 1974 [27 Sept 1973] 45234/73 Headings A6D and A6H A target for balls thrown in a game comprises a surface 7 formed with a peripheral array of holes 8, in any one of which a ball may come to rest, and a central indicator 9 carrying indicia, radially aligned with the holes, to show the scoring values of respective holes. The indicator 9 can be selectively angularly located in relation to base 1 by means of a depending lug (not shown) positionable in a selected one of a ring of holes (not shown) in base 1. The base is also formed with eight peripheral holes (not shown), which can receive either eight pegs 6 or (as shown) six pegs and the ends of a support 2, mounting a target 3. An elastic band 10 bounds playing area 7. Quoits may be aimed at pegs 6 (to which the indicia on member 9 also apply) in which case the device may be hung on a wall. Otherwise the device is either placed on the ground or on the surface of a body of water; in the latter case stability is provided by plate 11, straps 12, and one or two keells (not shown). |
