titleOfInvention Melt spinning conjugate fibres
abstract 1446106 Polyurethane conjugate fibre MONSANTO CO 25 Sept 1974 [26 Sept 1973 15 July 1974] 41643/74 Heading B5B In the spinning of a conjugate filament comprising a polyurethane as one component and a hard polymer, e.g. a polyamide or polyester, as a second component the polyurethane is heated immediately prior to melt spinning to a temperature within the range and 255‹ C. to form a molten stream. The polyurethane is formed from a polymeric glycol or hydroxy-terminated polyesters or polyethers of mol. wt. 800-3000 using 4À6-8À8 mols. of an aromatic diisocyanate per mol. polymeric glycol and sufficient low molecular weight polyol to provide an NCO/OH ratio of between 0À96 and 1À04 to 1.
