abstract | 1474519 Hydrolysis of 3-acyloxymethylcephalosporin GLAXO LABORATORIES Ltd 6 May 1974 [14 May 1973] 22799/73 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3H Hydrolysis of 3-acyloxymethyl-ceph-3-em-4- carboxylic acid to 3-hydroxymethyl analogues is catalysed by an esterase produced by culturing a yeast microorganism or a mutant thereof of the genus Rhodotorula. The starting material is preferably a compound of Formula (I) wherein R<SP>1</SP> is an amino or blocked amino group, R<SP>2</SP> is an H atom or an alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio or alkanoyl group of not more than 8C atoms; R<SP>3</SP>CO is an acyl group of 2-20C atoms; and B is >S or >S-#O. Specified microorganisms include Rhodotorula rubra, Rhodotorula glutinis and Rhodotorula graminis. |
