titleOfInvention | Muldi multicolouring polyester materials with acid dyes |
abstract | 1478717 Multicolouring polyester materials with acid dyes MARTIN PROCESSING INC 13 Sept 1974 [11 Jan 1974] 40063/74 Heading D1B Polyester material, pretreated according to the process of U.K. Specification 1452813 to impart an affinity for acid dyes, is further treated to impart resistance to acid dyes in localised regions by the following process. The localised regions are treated with an aqueous solution or printing paste containing (A) a condensate of formaldehyde with either a naphthalene sulphonic acid, phenol, sulphonated phenol, diaryl sulphone, urea, melamine or dicyandiamide and (B) a reactive compound containing a chromophore and also a group which reacts readily with a nitrogen atom of the pretreated polyester material and then heating with steam or dry heat. When dyed with an acid dye multicolour effects, including colour/ white, are obtained. Preferably the polyester material is a finished face yarn treated to have different colours along its length; the yarn may be formed into a fabric with the dyed colours exposed at the face or into a pile on a backing by tufting. |
