titleOfInvention Improvements in the treatment of leucitic rocks for the purpose of rendering available the potash contained therein
abstract Leucite is ground to an impalpable powder, preferably after first calcining alone or in presence of super-heated steam, lime, or magnesia, and the potash is then soluble in dilute acids such as acetic, formic, citric, oxalic, and carbonic acids so that it may be used as a fertilizer. The potash may be extracted wholly or in part by treating in an autoclave with carbonic acid or with one of the organic acids mentioned at raised temperature and pressure. The product is leached to extract the potassium salt, and the residue, if it still contains potassium, may be used as a manure.ALSO:Alkali-metal compounds, obtaining from complex silicates Leucite is ground to an impalpable powder, preferably after first calcining alone or in presence of superheated steam, lime, or magnesia, and the potash is then soluble in dilute acids such as acetic formic, citric, oxalic, and carbonic acids so that it may be used as a fertilizer.
