titleOfInvention | Process for producing aluminous keatite ceramics |
abstract | 1534228 Aluminous keatite ceramics CORNING GLASS WORKS 19 Sept 1977 [20 Sept 1976] 38884/77 Heading C1J A process for the production of an "aluminous keatite" containing ceramic article comprises contacting a ceramic article having a mole ratio of A1 2 0 3 to modifying oxides selected from Li 2 O, Na,0, K 2 O, ZnO, MgO, CaO, BaO and SrO not exceeding 1:1 and having a principal crystal phase composed of beta-spodumene (Li 2 O.Al 2 O 3 .nSiO 2 ) solid solution (n = 3À5-10), with an acid in order to replace at least some of the Li ions therein with hydrogen and subsequently heating the resulting article to provide "aluminous keatite" by the removal of at least some of the water of crystallization therefrom. |
