An apparatus for measuring the rate of flow of a medium especially for measuring the rate of flow of air inducted through the intake duct by an internal combustion engine comprises at least one temperature-dependent resistor (3) formed as a layer (coating) resistor provided with a dielectric, corrosion-resistant, hydrophobic, pinhole-free protective layer (18) which is as thin as possible.
